Service Description
Wednesday 7th October, 2-3pm There are many ways to make handles – the aim is to create a harmonious balance between the mug or jug and the handle so that it sits comfortably in the hand, lightly bears the weight of the vessel and is attractive to look at. Not an easy task! In this session, Corisande will show you a variety of styles of handles, the various ways of making and demonstrate how she pulls and handles for her mugs. You will be able to have a go at making handles on a leather-hard pre-made cylinder. If you have any of your own work that is leather-hard, do bring it along. This workshop runs after the throwing cylinder session and is a good follow-on for anyone interested in making mugs. As the aim of this workshop is to practice making handles, there is no firing included in the course. You are welcome to take home any greenware pieces for firing in your own kiln. If you don't have access to a kiln we can glaze your work for a small additional cost of £4 per piece. *Please note this course requires a minimum of 4 participants to run.*
